Eagles sign Julio Jones Former All-Pro WR

Two-time All-Pro and seven-time Pro Bowler joins the Philadelphia Eagles offense. On Tuesday, the team added Julio Jones to a one-year contract, giving their already stacked offense yet another weapon.

After the Eagles placed wide receiver Quez Watkins on injured reserve due to a hamstring issue, the 34-year-old Jones was added. Before opting to sign Jones, Philadelphia checked out Marquez Callaway and Dezmon Patmon on Monday. Jones will play for the reigning NFC champs and attempt to get his coveted ring.

Jones, a receiver who is a lock to make the Hall of Fame, was perhaps the best wide receiver in the NFL in the 2010s. In 2015, he had 136 receptions and twice finished first in the NFL in receiving yards. His performance at the time aided the Falcons in securing four postseason berths, one of which was a trip to the Super Bowl at the conclusion of the 2016 campaign.

Jones and AJ Brown, the Eagles’ top wide receiver and a teammate of Jones’ in Nashville during the 2021 season, will team up once more in Philadelphia. Jones will also have the opportunity to team up with Jalen Hurts, a fellow Alabama alum who has thrown seven more touchdown passes this season than interceptions.

The Eagles will seek to get back on track this week against the 5-1 Dolphins in what could be a possible Super Bowl preview.
