Oregon Brings Back Retro Uniform Combination for Washington State

The Ducks will face off against the Cougars this week sporting a fan-favorite classic uniform combination.

History of the uniform

During the 1994 season, the Ducks would experience a game never to be forgotten. With 1:05 left, No. 9 Washington was behind 24-20 when they got within eight yards of the winning score. Jerry Allen, the radio announcer, described an upset that was slipping out of grasp through his earpiece.

This particular drive, Washington had three conversions on third-and-10s and one on fourth-and-10. Instead, a poor pass by Damon Huard and a brave choice by a freshman who followed his gut instinct ended up saving the day for the Ducks.

That’s when “The Pick” happened followed by the infamous line from Jerry Allen “Kenny Wheaton is gonna score!” a 97-yard pick-six to never be forgotten.

Oregon hasn’t donned the uniform since the 2014 year, when Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback Marcus Mariota guided the Ducks to a national title appearance.
